So.... this year has quite a few licensed themes (for Lego), some *cough* NOT CARS *cough* which look (or at least sound) COMPLETELY AWESOME i.e. the LoTR sets or the Batman sets. So.. I want to know... what's your opinion about them? Do you think they're awesome or something that should have never existed.
Also, this is a kinda personal message to Jamesster:
STAY OFF THIS TOPIC! WE ALL KNOW U H8 LICENSED THEMES!Thanks!

I think the majority of members hear dislike licensed sets. We prefer themes LEGO comes up with themselves. I have yet to look at the sets, but I certainly hope they bring out some non-licensed sets this year.

Well. While I like the occasional licence theme, LEGO might have over done it this year (at least to me.) The neverending Star Wars, Marvel and DC heroes, Lord of the Rings, Spongebob, all the Disney sets. Heck, even the goofy Minecraft set. While they may or may not be great (Haven't looked to far into the sets), the bigger issue I have is that original themes are being cut out for these sets.
Kingdoms is fading away, Alien Conquest is dead and there is no sign of a new Space theme, no Pharoah's Quest (I am certainly disappointed, as LEGO could have easily pulled off Jake Raines in the Amazon or something), no Pirates (Brickbeard or POTC). It is kind of disheartening.
And then I get a mediocre City offering, uninteresting Monster Hunters (once again, haven't closely evaluated them yet, so this is pending), and I'm not truly fond of Ninjago. So far, Friends, Dino, and DC Heroes (Don't really like Marvel) are the most interesting themes that have come out this year.
............
Alright, I may have rambled abit. Regardless, I don't like the endless licence themes and I fear that original action lines will be replace with licenced themes and all we will have left is Friends and City.

As long as they don't completely ruin the LEGO experience + the content they deliver, I'm okay with it.
After all, I have to say if it wasn't for the Indiana Jones Licensed LEGO sets, I wouldn't have nearly a quarter of the old car parts + Jungle, and cool explorer bodies.
To be honest, LEGO isn't exactly the best at picking up on any midieval themed sets, they botch them in 1 way or another. So I wouldn't be too excited if they got LotR to screw up..

OK, Trav. I didn't mean jamesster when I explained about the haters. He's more or less impartial to licensed themes. It's LAIR OF ROCKWHALES you have to look out for. (No offence, Lair.)
And Brikman! I swear, we're more similar to each other than you might think! What you said about Jake Raines being in the Amazon was a great idea! Although... It would start to be more like the original Adventurers (and Lair would have another Rage.)

Since when have I been someone people "have to look out for" when discussing licensed themes?
Saying "no offense" doesn't make it any less offensive.

That was good enough Jamesster. Now, go play with your classic Space sets before someone gets hurt.
