Rules:

• For the Original Game records, your SpeedRun attempt must be done on the original game with no modifications whatsoever.
  
• For the Baz's Mod records, you SpeedRun attempt must be done with Baz's Mod on version 1.5 (and no modifications from this).
  
• If you have beaten any of the above records and wish to have it posted on the scoreboard, you MUST have a screenshot of the endgame scoreboard as evidence, and preferably a video recording of the SpeedRun as well.
  
• Records marked with a red asterisk (*) are official (video evidence has been seen), and therefore if you are wishing to beat any of these records, you also MUST have a video recording.

If you're unsure how to record a speedrun, an easy way is to download the free version of Hypercam, and play Rock Raiders in windowed mode. (When setting up screen area, click 'Select Window', and choose the Rock Raiders game window. Start recording when you begin the level.)

There's a few things to be aware of if you're planning to complete a SpeedRun of a level (repeated from my original thread.):

• By increasing the game speed, you aren't being more efficient. The game timer speeds up to correspond to the game speed, and so you can achieve these SpeedRun times (and probably beat them) at normal/lowest game speed.
  
• If you want to restart a level (and the timer), don't do it through the Esc menu ingame. If you restart the level from there, the timer won't reset, and when you eventually finish the level, the timer will display the time from when you first entered the level on the first attempt. Instead, you should quit the level properly, and re-enter it from the level tree.
  
• SpeedRunning can be frustrating, especially when you have unknown, random factors such as bats and small spiders, and unresponsiveness from Rock Raiders. SpeedRunning is traditionally done in Arcade games, with a straight linear passage from start to finish, and Rock Raiders wasn't designed with this in mind. Nevertheless, attempting a SpeedRun is a good measure of your Raidering efficiency.

Would it be alright if I moded the game just to remove the laser drain glitch? It's really screwed up some of the levels I've tried to do a run of.

If you know how to, and can fix it without changing any of the game's other elements, than I guess so. If you have video evidence of your runs, then I can check that there is nothing un-ordinary about the gameplay.

What good idea to make such speedruns! Competitive as I am i tried to beat a time. So I did.
I don't have the english version of the game, so this spoiler doesn't show the english name of the level. But it is level 20 where you have to run through tunnels to get to the tool store. Run The Gauntlet I think it's called.

Good to see people are attempting to beat my SpeedRun.

Well done MCHover on beating my time at Run the Gauntlet, and I've added your time on the scoreboard. It doesn't matter too much about not having the final score, as I'm not bothering to record that on the scoreboard.

Good luck at beating my times on other levels. A few of the longer ones I'm sure could have a few minutes shaved off their time

Lair says he's recording his SpeedRuns, but I haven't seen any of them yet. I'm not going to be completely strict with the video requirement as of yet, as I think it may put some people off attempting SpeedRuns, which is not what I want. I will make it a requirement though if I start getting dubious/probably faked times. It's been proven to be very easy to edit the end level screenshot with a different time, but I'm hoping that I can trust the members of RRU to be honest .

I made videos of the first 6 levels but sorta forgot about them. The video for Driller Night is 10 seconds longer than that image, however, and I never could reproduce the mentioned time

I tried to beat another score. It is level 3, and it is only with about 5 seconds, but it is still faster!

Also, I'm only trying to beat Matt's records. I'm igoring hover's and dude's because Cyrem said video evidence is needed, meaning Matt holds 25/25 records. Sadly I can't replicate my Driller Night run because how well I do is random chance based on the movement and generation of spiders.

Sorry for the delay in updating the scoreboard, but it's good to see that some new people are getting into SpeedRunning.

I've updated the scoreboard for all your records SomeWeirdGuyNamedBen, but can I ask if you recorded each of the SpeedRuns as well? While I'm not accusing you of cheating, it is ultimately the best way to prove validity, and if you plan on doing more SpeedRuns, it would be a good habit to get into.

Also, if people are unaware of it, Cyrem has created a special page for SpeedRun records (http://www.rockraide...ges/rrspeedruns, or you can access by clicking under the 'More' tab in the top right corner of the website.) We've decided that records under that page will require a video link as evidence, so if you do have a recorded SpeedRun that beats one of my records, we may be able to add it to that scoreboard.

In the meantime, I will keep this as a semi-official SpeedRun scoreboard, which can be updated with just screenshots.

Wow! Your new Erode Works record certainly puts mine to shame! (My old record is two and a half times slower... ) Well done on the time, and I've updated the scoreboard accordingly.

Thanks for the recording as well, as I may not have even believed you if you had just posted the screenshot. But as you've shown with your 'mobile-toolstore' technique, it certainly can be done a lot faster legitimately! (I can also see a lot of my other records being beaten with this technique )

This will certainly be added to the official scoreboard, but as Cyrem mentioned above, it is being renovated, and so won't be updated just yet.

Thanks! I've found moving the Tool Store very efficient for faster completion of EC collect missions. I'd rather make them pick up ore manually than wait ten years for them to cross half the level. It also helps that I 'rehearsed' the level off-camera! I wasn't expecting it to be THAT fast though; it took 6:20 on the 'rehearsal'.
I'll see if I can beat any more, but for the life of me, I don't know how you completed Back to Basics in 13 minutes!
But hey, my first 'official' official Speedrun record!
EDIT: Don't worry about the later levels being recorded and beaten; it lags too much when electric fences are up and I'm recording.
