Could you maybe play with the reverb and latency settings? Some of the plugins you can get for ePSXe let you modify that kind of stuff.

Have found old copy of Lego Rock Raiders again. Loading it into 3rd Raidtracker slot to trace rock raider bases, spy on them and find out their strategies.
