Game won't work; it did before

So I have been playing LR2 for a while now, until I came across a glitch. Two; actually.

One - the videos don't play properly, but that's a nuisance rather than a problem (they can still be skipped), but

Two - EXTREME LAG.

When I've gotten past the videos, the game nearly instantly goes to Sparky racing, with about half a second pause on the main menu. Then, when I go back to the main menu, it gives me another half second before it goes to another race. When I finally use all these half seconds to select a race... (or just restart it until this doesn't happen - about one time in two)

...the game LAGS. Big time. I can drive, yes, but I can't do anything else. It's juddery.

So... any ideas? The only mod I have installed is Xiron's Relocation mod, and the original has the same problem anyway... help? :P

EDIT: Tried a fresh install, still got the lag. :(

EDIT2: AARGH XIRON WHEN I CAM HERE TO EDIT MY POST I GOT MAD AT YOUR SIGNATURE GRAAAAAAH For some reason it's working now. I haven't restarted the computer, all I've mucked around with are the color settings and the framerate. Yes, I did that before, but I've often noticed that LR2 doesn't immediately respond to these changes - it took me about five/ten tries to get it back from 75Hz (which if you get it to there, IS PAINFUL) back to 60Hz.

So for people who are viewing this and wondering 'how do I fix it, I have the same problem' muck around with the color settings (32-bit vs 16-bit) and the framerate.

Shadowblaze

Welp, I was worried you wouldn't put any tongue smileys in that post. :P

The only thing you can do, as far as I know, is reinstalling the game. Actually, when I had a problem with the game, I transferred the game files to another computer without reinstalling, and it got back working again (but on that computer). I don't know if it's gonna help you in any way, but I thought it was worth writing. :P So yeah, try reinstalling.

Fluffy Cupcake

Lol, reminds me of the time on Cheat Engine where locking a certain address made the game play a million times faster (and it had the same symptoms you describe, extreme gameplay lag). The way it sounds like to me is the FPS limit on your game is broke or something. You didn't poke around the .exe in a hex editor recently did you?

and the original has the same problem anyway...

:P

Tried a fresh install, got rid of the suddenly-go-to-Sparky-Racing glitch (which only happened one time in two anyway), but still LAAAAAAAAAAAG.

I'm no expert on the other things, but have you tried restarting your PC? As in, actually pressing 'Restart', not shutting it down and turning it on again. In the past, if I've played Minecraft and flown around multiple resource-intensive areas, my PC can start to slow down. After restarting it, it works fine again. I think restarting your PC (like with your phone) clears out all temporary data. In fact Microsoft recommends restarting your PC once a week.

So, I restarted the computer without the LR2 disk in.

LR2 crashed on selecting a race.

I put the disk in.

The game crashed on the intro cutscene.

I restarted it and skipped the cutscenes.

And now the game works perfectly.
